| MUSCULAR ALLEVIATION MASSAGE | PRICES: |
|
Muscular alleviation massage is a very popular massage treatment that focuses on physically breaking down adhesions in muscles, tendons and ligaments. This type of massage is similar to the tranquil touch massage, except the strokes are deeper and sometimes slower. Generally, direct pressure is applied to a specific area, relieving pain and restoring mobility to the body. In certain situations a feeling of discomfort may take place that is why it is very important to communicate with me, to ensure that I only work within your level of comfort. Depending on the individual, soreness may take place 1 to 3 days following your session. It is best to drink lots of water following any massage sessions to assist the body in flushing out the toxins that have been released through the massage. | REFLEXIVE POINT MASSAGE | PRICES: |
| Massage of the feet is an ancient art dating back 5,000 years that has evolved to become a much more sophisticated practice. As with Eastern therapies, reflexology is based on the philosophy of Qi (also known as Chi) Reflexology is believed that the feet (and hands) are mirrors of the body. With the stimulation of reflex points on the foot (or hand) you are able to relax and balance the whole body, as well as assist a number of minor disorders. In 1915, Dr William H. Fitzgerald an American ear, nose and throat specialist introduced the concept of zone therapy. His theory was similar to that of reflexology; energy flows through ten vertical zones that run from head to feet. Five zones to the right of the imaginary line that runs through the center of the body and five on the left side he declared that pressure on the reflex point in the appropriate zone area on the foot could treat symptoms emanating from organs in the particular zone. He stated, "Zone therapy is not a cure all but a valuable adjunct to therapy." In China, studies have been carried out combining reflexology with medical treatment on children with chest infections. The studies showed that reflexology cannot only shorten the duration of the disease, but can also prevent complications. In addition, it can improve the functioning of the immune system, speed up recovery, and reduce recurrences of disease. "Carefully observe your activities of thinking, breathing, movement, diet and sleep, for these are the six fundamentals of health. Within the realm lies success or failure in your physical health & emotional happiness." --Shizuko Yamamota |
