Healthy Guidelines to Consider

By Teresa Bebla on April 28, 2011 | Category: Health,Holistic Health,Nutrition | 0 Comments »

Healthy Nutrition: All health begins with sound nutrition; food provides vitamins, minerals, enzymes and other nutrients that the body needs to function. All of these elements are vital to our immunity; our immune system is our best defense against any disease or illness. When this begins to deteriorate, we begin to do the same. Consuming foods that are known to promote your health and well-being, should substitute the foods that are known to provide the very opposite.

Healthy digestion: Many individuals never think twice about their digestive system because they are not aware of the role it plays in the body. The digestive system actually dictates overall health. When the digestive system is not functioning as it should be, food is not broken down properly; causing the nutrients you consume to be unavailable to the body.

In many cases a person may become malnourished despite a healthy diet due to the fact that poorly digested food becomes toxic to the body, when it sits too long. This adds extra stress on the liver and the immune system, eventually leading to illness. Self poisoning may also occur, this is caused by microorganisms, metabolic waste, and other poisons produced within the body. In order to have a healthy immune system, you must have a healthy digestive system.

Clean filtered water: The human body is actually made up of two thirds water, and is essential for all forms of life to survive. Every cell in the body requires water, along with oxygen and nutrients. Water is needed to flush out waste from the body and regulates all body functions. Water also transports nutrients, regulates body temperature, and maintains alkaline/acid balance. It keeps the skin moist, increases energy levels, and alleviates some headaches. Be sure to drink 8 8oz glasses daily.

Physical Activity: A sedentary life style is the life of many. Most of us find ourselves in front of the computer, or sitting on the sofa watching the latest reality show. We fail to realize that the human body was created for activity. Not to mention that physical activity reduces the risk of many conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, depression, just to name a few. If your initial
goal is health, you cannot have one without the other.

Good sleeping patterns: Proper sleep is vital to your overall health, this is the time when the body rebuilds and replenishes itself. Throughout the day our bodies become run down and burdened with stress. Lack of sleep has been linked to many health concerns that effect individuals both physically and mentally. Try to ensure that you get 5-7 hours of sleep each night. Create a sleep friendly environment for yourself; quite, cozy, dark and appropriate temperature.

Positive mental attitude: It is very important to have a positive outlook on life and all things surrounding you. If you surround yourself with negativity it can and will affect your health. Our thoughts give way to life, if you constantly harbor negative thoughts, your actions will become negative in nature. Stress can be a product of negative thinking, and stress is the number one cause of many health problems; not to mention stress weakens the immune system.

Most will find it difficult to think positive, but it is wise to focus on things that you can control and not so much the things that you can’t control. People who think positive are less likely to become sick, positive thinkers enjoy each day as it is presented to them. Do not be afraid to live in the moment, see the good in people, live one day at a time and don’t stress about the future. One of my favorite sayings is, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that’s why it is called the present.”
